Breast procedures.

Breast surgery consultations at KPAS provide an opportunity to discuss concerns about breast size, shape, asymmetry or existing implants. The procedure being considered depends on the area of concern, individual circumstances and the findings of a clinical assessment.

At Kings Park Aesthetic Surgery, your consultation includes time to discuss your goals, the options that may be relevant and the care involved.

Breast Surgery at KPAS

Breast surgery includes procedures with different aims, including changes to volume, tissue position, asymmetry and implant-related concerns. The relevant option depends on anatomy, medical history and the concerns discussed at consultation.

Previous surgery, implants, future pregnancy or breastfeeding plans may be relevant to the discussion. Assessment and informed consent are specific to the procedure being considered.

Understanding the Areas Being Assessed

Volume and tissue position

Breast size, skin and tissue characteristics are assessed together. Procedures that change volume do not necessarily address the same concerns as procedures that change tissue position.

Asymmetry

Differences between the breasts require individual assessment. The options and limitations depend on the nature of the difference and the patient’s circumstances.

Existing implants

Discuss the implant history and any symptoms or concerns. Assessment may include whether removal, replacement or another approach should be considered.

These areas provide a starting point for discussion, not a diagnosis or a recommendation for surgery. Individual assessment comes first.

Your Breast Surgery Consultation

Individual Assessment Comes First

A consultation is the right place to discuss your concerns, available options and whether a procedure may be appropriate for you.

Physical assessment and discussion may consider:

  • the concerns you would like assessed
  • breast tissue, skin and proportions
  • previous breast surgery or implants
  • relevant health and screening history
  • pregnancy or breastfeeding plans where relevant
  • options, limitations and procedure-specific risks

Ask your surgeon about alternatives, recovery, expected scars and possible complications before deciding whether to proceed.

Planning Around Your Individual Circumstances

Breast augmentation, lift, reduction and implant procedures address different concerns. More than one option may be discussed, but this does not mean that combined surgery is necessary or suitable.

Your surgeon will discuss the expected scars, the limitations of surgery and considerations relevant to implants or future changes in the breasts, where applicable.

Recovery and Aftercare

Recovery varies between breast procedures and individual patients. Ask about wound care, support garments where prescribed, lifting, exercise, work and follow-up appointments.

The treating team will provide instructions relevant to the operation performed. Contact the team if recovery is not progressing as explained or you have concerns.

Risks and Informed Consent

All surgery carries risks. The relevant risks depend on the operation, your health and the tissues being treated.

Ask about complications, limitations, alternatives and the possibility of further treatment. The consent discussion should address the particular procedure and your individual circumstances.

Different procedure areas are presented separately so you can review the relevant options. Discuss any additional concerns at consultation; considering another area does not mean that further surgery is appropriate.

Questions About Breast Surgery

Which procedures are listed on this page?

The procedures listed include breast asymmetry, augmentation, lift, reduction, implant removal, implant revision and gynaecomastia surgery. Their purposes and limitations differ.

Do I need to choose a procedure before consultation?

No. You can begin with an area of concern or questions. Assessment is needed to discuss which options, if any, may be appropriate.

What should I bring if I already have breast implants?

Bring available implant details and records of previous operations, together with information about any symptoms and relevant investigations. Your surgeon will advise if additional information or assessment is needed.

How long will recovery take?

Recovery depends on the operation, its extent and individual healing. Ask about care at home, activity restrictions, work and the review schedule for the procedure being considered.

Who should I consult at KPAS?

Review Dr Robert Owen’s and Dr Peter Meier’s profiles and the procedures they consult for. The KPAS team can help with administrative questions; clinical suitability is assessed by the consulting surgeon.

Can before-and-after photographs predict my result?

No. Case photographs illustrate individual outcomes and do not guarantee a similar result for another patient. Anatomy, the procedure and healing differ.
