Choosing a surgeon. Ask the questions that matter.
Credentials are a starting point. Your consultation should also help you understand relevant experience, individual suitability and how your care would be coordinated.
Check qualifications and registration
Look for specialist registration in plastic surgery and verify registration through the public Ahpra register. Check the practitioner’s name and registration details rather than relying on a title, social media following or photographs alone.
KPAS brings together three independent Specialist Plastic Surgeons. Their profiles describe their qualifications and clinical interests so that you can prepare a focused enquiry.

Clinical interests help direct an enquiry; they do not establish that a procedure is suitable for you. You can request a named surgeon or ask the team who consults in your area of interest.
Questions for your consultation
- What experience do you have with the procedure I am considering?
- Why might this option be appropriate for me, and what alternatives should I consider?
- What are the limitations and risks in my particular circumstances?
- Where would surgery take place and who would provide anaesthetic care?
- Who coordinates aftercare, and how would I contact the treating team with concerns?
- What costs could arise if further treatment is needed?
A decision without pressure
A helpful consultation gives you space to ask questions and understand uncertainty. Before-and-after photographs show individual experiences, not a promise of the result you will have. Consider whether the explanation is clear and whether your concerns have been addressed.
Common questions
Can the KPAS team choose a surgeon for me?
The team can explain each surgeon’s clinical interests and appointment arrangements. Suitability for treatment is assessed by the surgeon, and the choice remains yours.
Can I request a second opinion?
Yes. Another opinion may help you understand the options and make a considered decision. Tell each practitioner about relevant assessments and previous treatment.
